Summer Research Grants for Pre-Tenure

Purpose     

                                                                                                                  

The purpose of the summer research grants is to assist tenure-track                  women faculty  in the development of scholarly research or creative work.

The grants may be used to supplement other internal funding programs

(e.g., Research Council Seed Grants) or external awards. View the

Eligibility

 

All pre-tenure women faculty members are eligible, though priority will be given to applicants in the third or fourth year of their tenure calendar.                                                                                                                                

(For the purpose of this program, "pre-tenure" is defined as not having been awarded preliminary or final tenure.)   

                                                 

 Types of Grants Available                                                                              

 

Two types of grants are offered, stipends and grants-in-aid. Faculty members are eligible for only one type of grant.

 

 *Stipends

 

These grants are intended to provide modest support to a faculty member during the period of May 16  through August 15, 2006. The maximum grant amount is $2,000.

 

 *Grants-in-Aid

 

These grants support the acquisition of resources necessary for research projects. This may include travel (travel must be directly related to the specific project - funds may not be used to attend meetings or conferences),payments to human subjects, research software, research assistants, books or other research materials, data   that must be purchased, purchase and care of animal or other research subjects. Granted funds may be  expended at any time during the 2005 calendar year. The maximum grant amount is $1,000.

 

Application Process

Questions about the application process should be directed to Lisa Rismiller, Director of the UD Women’s Center (X95592), or to any member of the Research Grant Committee. Grants will be announced by letter the first week of May, 2006. soon after the May 2, 2006 application deadline.

Faculty receiving awards will be asked to submit a brief progress report by February 28, 2006 and to share their research in a Women’s Center program or forum.
