HERS
For the 5th consecutive year UD President Dr. Dan Curran will sponsor one UD faculty or staff member for the HERS Summer Institute at Bryn Mawr College. This venerable program brings together a diverse group of women faculty, managers, directors, deans, vice presidents, and others for an intensive, residential experience designed to prepare women to advance professionally within higher education institutions.
For 2010, the HERS Summer Institute has undergone significant changes, from shortening to a 15 day program (June 18 - July 2, 2010), to a new curriculum that covers:
- Understanding the Higher Education Environment: political and economic trends, IT, impact of multiculturalism
- Planning and Leading Change in the Academy: strategic planning, negotiating, conflict resolution
- Managing and Investing Strategic Resources: finances, budgeting, institutional advancement
- Mapping Your Leadership Development: leadership styles and strengths, career stages, mentoring
Interested UD women should read the attached FAQ and
UD eligibility and application requirements to learn more about this extraordinary opportunity. For answers to more specific questions about HERS, contact Lisa Rismiller (x95592) or visit the HERS website at: "http://www.hersnet.org/HERSHigherEducationResourceServices.htmsisihtm.asp". Application deadline is Monday, December 7, 2009.
